Motorola Moto X Play With 5.5 HD Display, 21MP Camera, 3630mAh Battery Launched At Rs. 18,499


As expected Motorola India has launched today its mid-range Moto X Play smartphone in two versions of 16GB and 32GB of internal storage at an event in New Delhi. As we were expecting, the Moto X Play 16GB version is priced Rs. 18,499 and 32GB variant has a price tag of Rs. 19,999. Both the variants will be available from today midnight exclusively on Flipkart, which has been old companion of Motorola since it started selling Moto range of smartphones in India.

This smartphone will be available in Black with Black back cover and White with winter White back color. Like other Moto smartphones, this phone also offers options of other colored back covers to suit one’s taste and style.


The two highlights of Moto X Play are its camera and battery. The Moto X Play is equipped with 21-megapixel rear camera of Sony which has  f/2.0 aperture and Colour Correlated Temperature flash with dual-LED modules. This camera has powerful features such as Phase Detect Auto-Focus, Slow motion video capability, Burst mode, Night mode, Auto HDR, Panorma and Drag to Focus and Exposure. This camera is capable of recording 1080p HD video. For selfie enthusiasts, it also houses a 5 megapixel front shooter.

The other USP of Moto X Play is its massive 3630mAh battery, which is claimed to offer over 30 hours of usage on a single charge. According to Motorola, with its Turbo Power Charging, 8 hours of usage can be achieved with 15 minutes of charge. The Turbo Charger is an optional accessory and will be available for approxiamtely Rs. 1,000.

Motorola Moto X Play sports a 5.5-inch full HD display (1080×1920 pixels). It is powered by 1.7 GHz, 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 Octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 405 GPU, 2 GB RAM and 16GB/ 32GB option of internal storage expandable to 128GB via microSD card.

The other useful feature of this phone is that it runs on stock-Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS and will be updated to the latest Android M. This phone supports Dual-SIM (Nano SIM cards).

The Moto X Play also supports 4G LTE networks and has in-built NFC technology. The Moto X Play is water repellent and not waterproof device which means that it can withstand odd splahes of water but can not be submerged in water.

The Moto X Play also incorporates Motorolo’s other useful features such as Moto Assist, Moto Display and Moto Actions. Moto Display is comfortable way to check time and important things to look at without pressing the sleep or wake button. Moto Assist enables the phone to read out text messages when you are driving, and also allows you to dictate a reply. With this feature, you can also set quiet hours so that notifications do not bother you. You can also speak your requests by setting the customs phrases for hands free operations. It also incorporates another useful feature which was available on Moto G 3rd Gen phone also and that is double- shake movement with your elbows to launch the camera without swiping the camera icon.

During the presentaion, Amit Boni, General Manager, Motorola India, informed that curently Motorola India has total 160 service centers in India and out of which 40 are excluisve centres. Moreover, their Care On Wheels project will also be expanded to Mumbai and Bangalore.
