Nokia Unveils Entry-Level Lumia 510 Smartphone For Approx. Rs. 11,000

It appears all of a sudden Nokia has got aggression to push sales of its quite successful Lumia range of smartphones in India. This is a good strategy by Nokia to encash its brand equity built in India for its range of mobile devices. Yesterday, Nokia organised an event in New Delhi where it announced its association with FC Barcelona club of Spain and today they have announced the Nokia Lumia 510 Windows 7.5 enry-level smartphone, for the first time in the world at a launch event in New Delhi.

The Nokia Lumia 510 sports a 4-inch WVGA 800×480  TFT capacitive touchscreen display with a 5-megapixel rear auto-focus camera;it does not have a front camera. This phone  is powered by an 800 MHz Qualcom Snapdragon S1 processor and has  256 MB of RAM. The phone comes with 4 GB built-in memory and Nokia has included 7 GB of free SkyDrive cloud storage. The Lumia 510 does not have a microSD card slot for additional storage. The phone is equipped with a  1300 mAh battery.

The new Nokia Lumia 510 with its large four inch display, integrated social experience, ease of downloading music, Nokia Maps & Nokia Drive and some of the finest collection of apps, is being targeted for youthful audience. India has the biggest young population of around 305 million in the age group of 18-24 years and as per a survey the youth likes social networking,music and navigation the most in a smartphone. All these features have been blended elegantly in the Nokia Lumia 510 to make it attractive for the youth. This smartphone will be available in vibrant colors, such as red, yellow, cyan, white and black.

The Nokia Lumia 510 will come with a 3 month unlimited Nokia Music and MixRadio offering. Through MixRadio, consumers can stream music directly to the phone, with the ability to listen to personalized radio channels, including offline listening.

Moreover, to attract young customers to buy this smartphone, Nokia has aggressively priced it less than Rs. 11,000 and the company did not disclose the exact price. The exact price will be revealed close to its official release, which will be in the first week of November. As per Nokia, this will be true ‘Diwali gift’ to India as this is the cheapest Lumia Device in the world.

The Nokia Lumia 510, like other Windows Phone 7.5 devices, will not be up-gradable to Windows 8, but will receive the Windows Phone 7.8 update instead. Nokia’s focus for pushing this smartphone in India is not on its technical specifications but its Apps especially its music downloading capabilities, social net-working integration and its mapping/navigation capabilities.
