Chinese start-up, OnePlus has announced extended service plans on its recently introduced OnePlus 2 smartphone in India. They are offering extension of warranty by one year and also offering warranty for physical damage etc. which is not covered under normal warranty.
Under B2X Service plan, OnePlus 2 will be covered for one more year against all defects. The company offers one year service on its product and with this plan, their OnePlus 2 will be warranted for two years against nominal charges of Rs. 999 only. This plan covers all defects that are covered under manufacturer’s warranty for another more year after the expiry of the original manufacturer’s warranty for the device.
The B2X Protect service covers accidental, physical & liquid damage to your OnePlus 2 device during the first year of the product purchase, which is not covered under standard terms and conditions of warranty. The cost of B2X Protect plan is Rs. 1299.
To avail of above plans, customers are required to purchase the Service Plan within 30 days of purchase of the OnePlus 2 device and have to register at B2X Care within 7 days of purchase by providing relevant purchase details. According to the company, the customers will be sent across a physical document/pack post the formalities to complete the registration within stipulated time of 7 days.
This is for the first time, we have seen extension of warranty plan by any smartphone supplier. This type of warranty extensions is prevalent in home appliances and automobile industry. In the days to come, we expect to see more smartphones suppliers following this trendsetting warranty extensions options.
