South Asian Audio Video Network(Saavn), the Indian music streaming service, has announced today that carrier billing is now available to mobile subscribers of Airtel and Vodafone. Subscribers of Airtel and Vodafone can now pay for access to Saavn Pro, the company’s offline music listening product, without a credit card, and without committing to a subscription. The carrier billing will allow Indians to make quick and easy payments for ad-free, offline access to Saavn’s vast music library, without caredit card.
Subscribers of Airtel and Vodfone can purchase Saavn Pro with their prepaid carrier balances or postpaid accounts on Android devices. Saavn Pro allows users to listen to their music offline – regardless of their phone signal or Wi-Fi coverage – and without advertisements. Prepaid (non-subscription) users of Saavn Pro have access to the same features and benefits as subscription users of Pro, with their offline content available for listening during paid periods. Offline content is maintained on the prepaid listener’s device and reactivated with payment, streamlining the download process.
Founded in 2006, Saavn’s comprehensive music catalog includes over 1 million Indic tracks for its streaming “search and play” and radio services. With the smartest search, the fastest results, and the largest library of South Asian music, Saavn delivers a seamless, on-the-go listening experience to fans of South Asian music worldwide, across web and mobile.
Music fans with Airtel or Vodafone subscriptions can purchase Saavn Pro in increments of 1 day, 1 week, or 1 month without a subscription, and without a credit or debit card. The service is available for Rs. 5 for a single day’s access, Rs. 30 for a week, or Rs. 110 for a month, for all users who have updated to the latest version of Saavn (2.7) on Android.
The direct carrier billing option gives music fans a fast and easy way to enjoy music from their favorite artists in Bollywood and beyond, online and offline. All of the music genres available on Saavn, such as film, bhangra, devotional, ghazals, pop, and more, are available for offline listening, as are tracks in multiple languages, including Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and English.
“This new billing option enables millions of Saavn Android users to access our premium music experience in a quick and effortless way. Previously, Saavn Pro was available only to credit and debit card account holders, but now, anyone with an Airtel or Vodafone account can go Pro,” said Paramdeep Singh, Managing Director and Co-Founder of Saavn. “This first foray into operator billing is part of Saavn’s continuous efforts to build even more innovative partnerships and products that address our listeners’ needs and wants.”
