Samsung has expanded its portfolio of Galaxy Core series and launched today Galasxy Core 2 smartphone at Rs. 11,900. To bring some change to its design language, the Galaxy Core 2 comes with leather like back cover. This smartphone is available in black and white colours.
The Galaxy Core 2 comes with a 4.5-inch (800 x 480 Pixels) LCD capacitive touch screen display, and is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, coupled with 768MB RAM, 4GB of internal storage with expansion slot. Samsung should have provided atleast 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal storage. It runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) with Samsung TouchWiz Essence UI. It is fuelled by a 2000mAh battery, which is claimed to provide :
- Standby Time – 30 Days(2G), 14.8 Days (3G)
- Talktime – 20Hours(2G), 9.5Hours (2G)
- Music Play Time – 28Hours (MP3 with earphone)
The Galaxy Core 2 supports Dual SIM, and also offers support for 14 Indian languages, and this phone features Bluetooth4.0, WiFi b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, 3G,2G for connectivity options.

This is an attempt by Samsung to remain in the reckoning in highly competitive mid-range segment, with the arrival of various smartphones – Indian and Chinese in the sub Rs. 12K category. Only today, Xiaomi has launched three smartphones at very aggressive prices.( See our two articles of today ) It will be seen in the days to come how Indian customers react to newly launched Xiaomi smartphones which has better hardware specifications than Galaxy Core 2.
