Samsung has announced today Galaxy S22 series of smartphones comprising of Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+ and Galaxy 22 Ultra. In this article, we shall discuss about Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+. Both Galaxy S22 and S22+ feature the Contour-Cut design that blends the camera seamlessly into the housing. Both the devices are built with a distinctive flat display, complete with a glass and haze finish. Both the Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22+ are available in Phantom Black, Phantom White, Green and Pink Gold. The Galaxy S22 series is also the first smartphones to feature new Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+. The S22 series devices are equipped with this tough glass on the front and back.
Samsung has used the discarded fishing net in the Galaxy S22 series’ component, key bracket which contains 20% recycled ocean-bound plastic from discarded fishing nets. The Galaxy S22 series also incorporates post-consumer recycled material in its speaker module, as well as the inner parts of the power and volume keys.
Both Galaxy S22 and S22+ are equipped with 50MP main camera, 10MP tele-lens, and 12MP ultra-wide lens. The new Auto Framing feature detects and tracks up to 10 people and automatically adjusts the camera’s focus, so your camera captures everyone clearly. Both devices are powered by advanced VDIS technology which minimizes vibrations, so you get smooth, sharp footage even when you’re on the move.
The Galaxy S22 sports a 6.1-inch FHD+ Infinity-O Dynamic AMOLED 2X Display with 10-120Hz adaptive refresh rate and 240Hz Touch Sampling Rate in Game Mode. The Galaxy S22+ comes with 6.6-inch FHD+ Infinity-O Dynamic AMOLED Display, 10-120Hz adaptive refresh rate and 240Hz Touch Sampling Rate in Game Mode. The S22 has a peak brightness of 1,300nits while S22+ features a peak of 1,750nits. These phones are powered by
Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 4nm Mobile Platform / Octa-Core Samsung Exynos 2200 processor and are paired with 8GB RAM with 128GB/256GB storage. The S22 is packed with 3700mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging and S22+ comes with 4500mAh battery with 45W fast charging. Both the phones also support 15W Qi wireless charging and Wireless PowerShare.
These phones support Dual Nano SIM and runs on Android 12 with One UI 4.1. The entire Galaxy S22 series will be supported by up to four generations of Android OS upgrades.
On the imaging front, these phones are equipped with 50MP rear camera with LED Flash, f/1/8 aperture, OIS, 12MP 120° Ultra Wide sensor and 10MP Telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and OIS. For selfies, the 10MP front camera with f/2.2 aperture is given.
Both the phones are Dust and Water resistant (IP68) and come with Ultrasonic Fingerprint sensor. The Galaxy S22 series is secured by Samsung’s Knox Vault security platform, which includes a secure processor and memory that completely isolates sensitive data like your passwords, biometrics, or Blockchain keys from the phone’s main operating system. It also incorporates Samsung Wallet.
These phones offer various connectivity options of 5G SA/NSA, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6E (Galaxy S22+) / Wi-Fi 6 (Galaxy S22), Wi-Fi Direct Bluetooth v 5.2, GPS + GLONASS, USB 3.1 and NFC.
These phones will start shipping from March 11 in several countries. The Galaxy S22 pricing starts at USD 799 (approx. Rs. 60,000) and the Galaxy S22 Plus is priced USD 999 (approx. Rs. 75,000). It is not clear yet when these phones will arrive in India.
