Samsung has launched in India its fifth generation of Galaxy S5 smartphone, which has an advanced camera, the fast network connectivity, dedicated fitness tools and enhanced device protection features. The company has not revealed the price of the S5, but gave an indication that one should be prepared to pay between Rs. 51,000 to Rs. 53,000 to possess this smartphone, which will be available from 11th April onwards.
The Galaxy S5 features a perforated pattern on the back cover creating a modern glam look. This new sleek, contoured shaped smartphone will be available in charcoal Black, shimmery White, electric Blue and copper Gold colors.
The Galaxy S5 features a 5.1-inch FHD Super AMOLED (1920 x 1080) display, and is powered by an eight-core Exynos processor (four clocked at 1.9GHz, four at 1.3GHz) ,coupled with 2GB of RAM plus 16GB internal memory, which can be expanded upto 64GB via microSD card. It runs on latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat, and is fuelled by a 2800mAh battery, which according to the company, will have standby time of 300 hrs and talk time of 21 hrs. This smartphone comes with the Ultra Power Saving Mode feature, which turns the display to black and white, and shuts down all unnecessary features to minimize the battery consumption.
The key feature of S5 is its enhanced S Health 3.0 application. As per Samsung, this app offers more tools to help people stay fit and well. It provides a comprehensive personal fitness tracker to help users monitor and manage their behavior, along with additional tools including a pedometer, diet and exercise records, and a new, built-in heart rate monitor.
The Heart rate sensor is positioned below the smartphone’s camera on the rear. You can easily access this via the S Health app and all you have to do is to put your finger on the sensor to let the smartphone measure your heartbeat. Galaxy S5 users can further customize their experience with an enriched third party app ecosystem and the ability to pair with next generation Gear products for real-time fitness coaching.
The Galaxy S5 is dust and water proof device. The S5 has a fingerprint scanner, which provides a secure, biometric screen locking feature.
The Galaxy S5 is equipped with a 16 megapixel rear camera, which is claimed to have the world’s fastest autofocus speed up to 0.3 seconds and the advanced High Dynamic Range (HDR), reproduce natural light and color with striking intensity. It also has Selective Focus feature, which allows users to focus on a specific area of an object while simultaneously blurring out the background.
The S5 comes pre-loaded with Google service including Chrome, Drive, Photos, Gmail, Google, Google+, Google Settings, Hangouts, Maps, Play Books, Play Games, Play Newsstand, Play Movie & TV, Play Music, Play Store, Voice Search and YouTube.
