Samsung India has officially announced today that Galaxy S6 edge+ with 32GB internal storage will be available in India from 28th August. The pre-booking of this phone will start tomorrow on Samsung India e-store and in retail outlets and it will be delivered to the customers from 28th August onwards. It will be available in Gold Platinum and Silver Titanium colors. Those who pre-book the device by 27th August will get wireless charger and one year free replacement of the screen, free of charge.
The Galaxy S6 edge+ was globally launched alongwith Galaxy Note 5 last week in USA.
The Galaxy S6 edge+ is bigger varaint of Galaxy S6 edge, which was launched earlier this year. The edge+ comes with 5.7 inches dual-edged display compared to 5.2 inches of S6 edge. It has Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection on the front as well as on the back. The curved portion on the right hand side also functions as a secondary display from where you can launch applications with ease.
The Galaxy S6 edge+ borrows the design from Galaxy S6 edge and incorporates ‘Apps edge’ for easy access to favorite apps, and enhanced ‘People edge’ for easy communications with preferred contacts. ‘Apps edge’ allows users to access their favorite apps by just swiping the edge display. ‘People edge’ helps users to connect their close contacts easily. From the edge screen, users can quickly find their pre-set contacts and send message or give a call directly.
To address the issues of repeated and frequent charging, Samsung has powered Galaxy S6 edge+ with 3,000mAh battery with fast wired and wireless charging technology compatible with virtually any wireless pad available today. According to Samsung, with wired charging, this devices can be fully charged in approximately 90 minutes, and through Samsung’s latest wireless charger, can be fully charged in approximately 120 minutes.
The Galaxy S6 edge+ feature 5.7-inch QHD (1440×2560 pixels) Super-Amoled displays with a pixel density of 515ppi. This device run on the latest Android 5.1 (Lollipop) OS. It is powered by an Octa core (2.1GHz Quad + 1.5GHz Quad), 64 bit architecture, processor, coupled with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 32GB of internal storage. It does not have microSD card slot to extend this storage.
It is also equipped with 16-megapixel rear camera with an f/1.9 aperture and optical image stabilisation, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Samsung’s advanced camera system on this device feature Quick Launch, which means that by double clicking the home button, the camera will be launched in less than one second. The camera also has improved video capabilities such as Steady Video, which provides Video Digital Image Stabilization on both the front and rear cameras for sharp, crisp video, and Video Collage Mode, which allows users to record and edit short videos easily in various frames and effects.
It also feature 4K(UHD) video filming and Live Broadcast, which lets users instantly live streams Full HD video straight from the phone to any individual, group of contacts, or even the public through YouTube Live. It also support SideSync, which offers both wireless and wired PC-smartphone integration for seamless connections across devices running even on the latest Windows 10 or Mac platforms.
The Galaxy S6 Edge+ will support 4G LTE Cat. 9 or Cat. 6 modems. This phone also has other connectivity options of WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v 4.2, USB 2.0, NFC etc.
Samsung has also launched few accessories for Galaxy S6 edge+. These are Fast Charge wireless charger ( Rs. 3599) , Keyboard cover ( Rs. 4499) and S View cover(Rs. 2999). These will also be available from 28th August.
You can add Qwerty keyboard cover on edge+ at additional price of Rs. 4499 for fast typing. Although it will block almost half of the display but will prove handy for those who are required to send lot of text messages and other writing outputs. The moment keyboard is put on the display, the phones will recognize it and adjust its user interface accordingly. No need for bluetooth or additional battery for this keyboard.
