To encash its ever increasing popularity of brand Galaxy, Samsung has now made available its Galaxy Tab 2 311 in India. This tablet is available on the e-commerce site of Samsung India and on online portal of e-bay India for Rs. 13,900.
The Galaxy Tab 2 311 sports a 7-inch PLS TFT LCD display with a 1024×600 (WSVGA) resolution, and measurs 193.7 x 122.4 x 10.5 mm and weighs 341g. This tablet is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor with 1GB RAM and has 16GB of internal storage with external expansion support upto 32GB via microSD. The tablet comes pre-installed with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and features a 3-megapixel rear and VGA front cameras. It comes with a 4,000mAh battery. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0 and USB 2.0.
The Galaxy Tab 2 311 is economically priced and to make this tablet attractive to students, it comes with a host of pre-loaded educational content as well and users can download additional content form the company’s My Education service.
The Galaxy Tab 2 311 features almost similar specs in comparison to its 3G sibling, the Galaxy Tab 2 310 except that this one is missing 3G support. But since this tab is targetted at students and first time buyers, probably this is the reason that Samsung has omitted the 3G support to cut down the price.
Samsung has also kept the price low to compete with launches of various tablets by Indian manufacturers like HCL and other companies, who are coming out frequently with low priced tablets. Moreover, HCL has been very aggressive with its ME tablets which comes with rich educational content also, and to take on with this segment, Samsung has come out with this low-priced tablet for specific segment.
