Samsung Launches Galaxy S7 At Rs. 48,900 & Galaxy S7 Edge At Rs. 56,900

At an event in New Delhi, Samsung India has launched today their two latest flagship smartphones – Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge. These two devices were unveiled at the recently concluded MWC in Barcelona and Samsung has brought these devices very fast in India keeping inview of its popularity in this market.

The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge will go on sale in India from 18th March at Rs. 48,900 and Rs. 56,900 for 32GB variants, and pre-registrations for these devices have stated from today. Those customers who pre-book these smartphones latest by 17th March, will get a free Galaxy VR device slongwith the booked smartphone.These phones will be available in three different colours – Black Onyx, Gold Platinum and Silver Titanium.

Both the Galaxy S7 and 5.5-inch Galaxy S7 edge are constructed with 3D glass and metal – all in a sleek design with durability and ergonomic curves for a comfortable grip. The USP of these two devices are that they are equipped with Dual Pixel rear cameras, Always-On Super AMOLED Display, water and dust resistance feature, 4GB RAM and very fast processor. These two devices run on the latest Marshmallow OS with Samsung’s own Touchwiz upon it.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 features a 5.1-inch QHD Super Amoled display( 2560 X 1440 (577ppi)) and the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge has a 5.5-inch QHD Super Amoled display (2560 X 1440 (534ppi). Both the devices have an Always-On display similar to LG G5’s display which was also announced yesterday. This display enable you to check important notifications, time and date without having to wake up the device.

Both the devices are powered by Samsung’s Exynos 8890 64-bit octa-core (2.3GHz quad-core + 1.6GHz quad-core) processor instead of Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core (2.15GHz dual-core + 1.6GHz dual-core) processor. Accordfing to Samsung, the CPU is about 44 percent more powerful than its predecessor and incorporates the enhanced GPU for heavy graphics games to run smoothly. This is about 60 percent more powerful than the one in Galaxy S6. To address the issues of heating, Samsung has incorporated liquid cooling technology in these two devices, which work like an airconditioner for the processor.

The new flagship Galaxy smartphones come with 4GB RAM (LPDDR4) and will be available in 32GB internal storage options. Both the devices have the hybrid SIM card tray allows users to insert a microSD card for up to 200GB of additional storage and the tray can be used with a dual SIM card also.

The Galaxy S7 is powered by a 3,000mAh battery and Galaxy S7 edge has 3,600mAh battery. Both the devices come with fast wired and wireless charging technology.

On the camera front, both the smartphones have a 12MP dual pixel f/1.7 rear camera with smart OIS and a 5MP(F1.7) selfie shooter. According to Samsung, ” Dual Pixel camera has ben introduced for delivering brighter and sharper images, even in low light. Thanks to the revolutionary Dual Pixel technology, brighter lens with wider aperture, and bigger pixel, the camera has a faster shutter speed and a more accurate autofocus even in low-light conditions. Motion Panorama, a new camera mode, brings movement to traditional panoramic photos, giving the user a completely immersive visual experience.”

Both the models support 4G (LTE Cat 9), NFC and MST payment technologies, Samsung KNOX, are IP68 certified water and dust resistance. The Galaxy S7 has dimensions of 142.4 x 69.6 x 7.9mm and its weight is 152g whereas the S7 Edge has dimensions of 150.9 x 72.6 x 7.7mm, and weighs 157g.

Samsung has also announced Samsung Concierge service under My Galaxy app for the newly launched Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. This service has four key features – My Assistant for enabling customers to order flowers, set reminders, and use other services; Fast Track for fast access at Samsung service centres; Phone Pickup & Drop for getting a standby device if your Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge require any sort of repair and Chat With Samsung customer support for getting support of any type. This service is free of cost and could be extended to Galaxy S6 and Note 5 customers in due course of time.

Samsung has also partnered with Vodafone service provider for these two devices and is offering twice voice and data for the first 6 months to select Vodafone Red plan customers.
