Samsung has announced launch of Rex series of feature phones, which have been developed in India by R&D team of Samsung, New Delhi. The Samsung REX series consists of four devices: REX 90, REX 80, REX 70 and REX 60. At launch event in New Delhi, many dignitaries of Samsung Electronics, South Korea were present. This shows how much importance Samsung is according to Indian market, and these phones made in India, will be introduced later in other emerging markets like China,Middle East, South Africa and Latin American countries.
The Rex 90 features a 3.5-inch capacitive display, with dual-SIM support, a 3.2 megapixel camera, WiFi with up to 15 hours of talktime. The dual-SIM Rex 80 sports a 3-inch capacitive screen and also includes WiFi support and comes with a 3 megapixel camera. The Rex 70 has a similar screen as the Rex 80 but has a lower 2 megapixel camera. The starting model, the Rex 60 has a 2.8-inch display (not capacitive) and a 1.3 megapixel camera. All these Rex series feature phones work on Java platform.

To ensure no calls are missed, Smart Dual SIM allows you to receive calls on one SIM even when you are on the phone using the other. Also, the feature of ‘True Hot Swap’ (in Rex 70 & 90) improves regular SIM Hot Swap by allowing SIM changes without restarting or even having the other SIM in place.

Slim and Compact : All Rex series feature phones are stylish, slim and easy to handle with one hand. Infact, these phones look like Samsung’s Android Duos smartphone. Lookwise, nobody can differentiate whether Rex is a feature or Android smartphone.
Samsung REX users in India can also access some very useful apps available on the Samsung App store for free. These apps range from popular apps like ngpay, ebay, OLX, and Quikr, to a naukri.com, shadi.com and VuClip, to name just a few. All Rex series phones come pre-loaded with 10 games and further content and games can be downloaded from Samsung App store.
Samsung Rex phones are attractively priced to lure younger people to buy them to experience the world of social networking and entertainment. The Rex 60 is priced at Rs 4,280, the Rex 70 costs Rs 4,570, the Rex 80 is available for Rs 5,270, and the Rex 90 for Rs 6,490. The REX series is being launched with a very attractive Tata Docomo offer, which gives double the data to consumers, on all standard data recharges until Aug 31, 2013. All these models will be available in retail stores from next week.
Samsung’s Rex series of feature phones will pose serious challenge to Asha series of Nokia and many low priced feature phones of Indian handsets makers.
