Samsung, LG, HTC To Launch Flagship Smartphones To Take On Upcoming iPhone

As reported by Taiwan based website Digitimes, the leading smartphones manufacturers – Samsung,LG and HTC are bracing themselves to take head on with Apple’s upcoming new iPhone. These three companies are planning  to introduce new flagship models in the third quarter of 2013 in order to take on the forthcoming new iPhone scheduled to be released in the second half of the year, according to industry sources.

As per various rumours and inside sources, Samsung is expected to roll out its Galaxy Note 3 in the second half. The new flagship model will be powered by a Exynos 5 octa-core processor and will  come with a 5.99-inch Super AMOLED display supporting 1080p Full HD resolution. Samsung is also planning to come out with few versions of its recently launched Galaxy S4 flagship smartphone. As per various inputs received by SamMobile, which keep a close tab on Samsung developments, Samsung is coming out with  The Galaxy S4 Zoom with a 16 megapixel camera. Samsung has  downgraded the screen size of the Galaxy S4 Zoom to a 4.3” super-AMOLED  display. The phone  will have 8 GB of storage, MicroSD up to 64 GB, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, A-GPS and Android OS Jelly Bean and of course Samsung’s own Touch Wiz Nature UX interface. The processor is likely to be dual-core or quad-core, but it has not been finalised yet.

This phone is expected to be launched in late June or July. Samsung is also in the process of launching Galaxy S4 mini, in which some features of its flagship will be omitted, and  rugged version of the S4, to take on with Sony’s Xperia Z, which is harping on its dust and water resistant features.

After tasting huge success with its  latest flagship model, the Optimus G Pro, LG is expected to release a new flagship, the Optimus G2, in the second half of the year. The Optimus G2 will come with a 5-inch Full HD display powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor.

HTC One is receiving rave reviews and is going to prove the most admired and highly successful smartphone released by HTC so far. HTC  of Taiwan wants to exploit its success and is planning to launch the  next-generation HTC Butterfly 2 in the third quarter. The Butterfly 2 will have a large-size display supporting Full HD and a number of features such as BlinkFeed, UltrapPixel sensor and BoomSound speakers that are found in its latest flagship model, the New HTC One, which was launched recently.

Besides above, one can expect another flagship device from Sony as its latest Sony Xperia Z is doing wonders for the company. And of course, one should not write down Nokia, which is struggling to cope with stiff competition from Android flagship smartphones and will certainly come out with new Lumia device after fairly good response to its Lumia 920.

And all these developments do not bode well for Apple, which is stuck up with just the one model of  iPhone and unless they bring out revolutionary features in their new model, they will face more heat from the Android smartphones, which have come out with many unique features in the recent months. Apple will have to show same level of aggression as of Samsung to remain the leader of  smartphone arena.
