After so many rumors about the upcoming new version of Galaxy Note, Samsung has finally announced the date for Galaxy Note Unpacked 2016 event where new Galaxy Note 7 will be unveiled. This will take place in New York at 11:00 a.m. EDT on August 2, 2016 and simultaneous launch events will also be held in Rio de Janeiro at noon and in London at 4:00 p.m on the same day. This event will be live streamed and can be seen at www.samsung.com and news.samsung.com/global
Samsung has also clarified why they have jumped from number 5 to 7 in naming new Galaxy Note 7. The previous device was named Galaxy Note 5 and now it will be called Galaxy Note 7. Samsung has stated that the reason for naming Galaxy Note 7 instead of Galaxy Note 6 is that ”Galaxy Note7 will complement our Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, and unify our product portfolio. Second, the Galaxy Note7 will minimize confusion about the latest mobile technology from Samsung, and provide full alignment with Galaxy S smartphone”.
As far as the features of the upcoming Galaxy Note 7 is concerned, it is expected that this device will flaunt a display of 5.7 inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display with resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. Their are chances that this screen may have curved edges like that of Galaxy S7 edge. This phablet is expected to be packed with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 or Samsung Exynos 8893 SoC depending upon the markets and could be paired with 4GB/6B RAM alongwith internal storage of 64GB/128GB with further provision to extend it.
This phabelt is also expected to be armed with 12MP primary camera and 5MP front shooter with the same features available on Galaxy S7 cameras. This device will get its juice from powerful 4000mAh battery.
Besides fingerprint scanner, this phablet is expected to incorporate iris scanner for unlocking the device with your eyes. It will run on Android Marshmallow with layer of Samsung’s new version of TouchWiz. This will also have updated S Pen with more features.
The features of Galaxy Note 7 look very impressive and this is the real device for those who wants a big display for multitasking. This phone is expected to start in the range of $ 900 in US and Europe.
