Samsung has launched today its second smartphone running on its Tizen OS at an event in Gurgaon. The latest Tizen based smartphone is Samsung Z3 and is targetted for those customers who wish to migrate from feature phone to smartphone. Samsung Z3 has price tag of Rs. 8,490 and will be available from 21st October in Samsung retail channels and also exclusively on online e-commerce portal of Snapdeal.
Accoding to Samsung, Z3 is more advanced in terms of its display, processor and optics feature compared to its first Tizen based offering Z1. The latest Z3 runs on Tizen 2.4 OS.
Samsung Z3 is made of polished metal and has sleek design having thickness of 7.9 mm. It comes in three colors – Gold, Black and Silver.
Since Z3 is targetted for the first time users, therefore, Samsung has bundled this device with many features for entertainment, gaming and shopping etc. Samsung Z3 comes pre-loaded for free for lifetime with a highly personalised and very popular music streaming service -Mix Radio. This service provide thousands of curated mixes from a catalogue of over 30 million songs. This service has vast local catalogue of 12 Indian languages including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Punjabi, Bangla, Odiya and Marathi. Indian users will have the advantage to stream music of their choicee and also listen to music in offline mode.
Samsung has also introduced My Galaxy app for Z3, which will also be available for Samsung Android devices via Google Play from today itself. This app offers consumers differentiated value added services and has four segments of Home, Services, Care and My Page. The first segment carry offers and deals from Samsung partners such as Amazon, Paytm, BookMyShow, and Pizza Hut among others. The service segment shows recharge, travel, movies, fashion options. The Care segment provides post purchase assistance by enabling location based discovery of Samsung service and store locators, in addition to enabling consumers to track their service requests. Finally, My Page segment reflects you saved deals, points earned on purchase which can be redeemed in Samsung stores on purchase of Samsung products.
Samsung has also tied-up with Rovio, Gameloft and Games2Win to preload their games on Z3. This phone will also be bundled with Vodafone data plan of 1GB free per month for two months. This phone also comes with many India-centric themes.
The Z3 is a Dual-SIM phone and features a 5 inch HD Super AMOLED display. Under the hood is a 1.3GHz quad-core Spreadtrum SC7730S processor combined with 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal storage,which can be extended upto 128GB via microSD card.
It is equipped with an 8-megapixel rear camera with an f/2.2 aperture and LED flash, and also houses a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The rear camera comes with different modes for clicking images such as Continuous shot, Dream shot, Beauty face and Panorama etc. The front-facing camera also comes with various modes ranging from ‘Automatic Selfie’ mode with facial recognition, ‘Beauty Face’ mode that automatically retouches images for flawless skin to ‘Wide Selfie’ mode to capture up to 120 degrees angle for larger group selfie shot.
This phone offers 3G connectivity and also offers other options of connectivity such as Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0, GPS. and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. It comes with Accelerometer and Proximity Sensor. This phone has dimensions of 141.6x70x7.9mm and its weight is 137 grams.
This phone is packed with a removable 2600mAh battery and comes with ‘Ultra Data Saving’ mode, which according to Samsung provides data compression and app management capabilities resulting in up to 40% mobile data savings and up to 50% longer standby time. This phone also incorporates Ultra Power Saving (UPS) mode, which allows users to operate on standby for over a day even with less than 10 percent of battery remaining.
Samsung Z3 is manufctured in India and its main features such as My Galaxy app, Mix Radio, Ultra Data Saving and Power Saving modes, have been developed by Samsung’s Indian R&D team.
