Samsung Launches Upgraded Galaxy J5 & J7 (2016) With Marshmallow OS

Samsung has expanded its portfolio of mid-range Galaxy J series and launched today upgraded Galaxy J5(2016) and J7(2016). Both the newly launched phones run on the latest Marshmallow 6.0 OS compared to Android Lollipop 5.1 OS being run on the old variants. Both the two new devices have enhanced RAM, Battery and Processing capacity( in the case of new J7) and more internal storage capacity in new J5.

Samsung Galaxy J7 and J5 2016 are priced Rs. 15,990 and Rs. 13,990, respectively and will be available in 3 colour options – Gold, Black and White. They will also have a double data from Airtel for up to six months that will allow consumers to get up to 30GB of free data. These devices will be available exclusively on Flipkart.com from May 10th 2016 onwards.

The new Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) also flaunts a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display with Full HD resolution of 1080×1920 pixels. It is powered by an octa-core processor running at 1.6GHz comapred to 1.5GHz of 2015 variant. This phone comes with 2GB RAM compared to 1.5 available on 2015 varant and has 16GB of internal storage, which can be extended upto 128GB via microSD card support. This phone gets its juice from 3300mAh battery compared to 3000mAh of previous version.

On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016) has smaller 5.2-inch Super AMOLED screen with HD resolution of 720×1280 pixels. It is packed with the same 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor which was provided on 2015 variant. The new variant of 2016 now comes with 2GB RAM instead of 1.5 GB RAM of 2015 variant and 16GB of internal storage compared to 8GB of earlier version, which is further extendable to 128GB via microSD card. This phone is packed with 3100mAh battery compared to 2600mAh of 2015 variant.

As far as camera set-up on both the phones are concerned, Samsung has not tinkered with camera specifications. Both the new phones are equipped with 13MP rear camera with f/1.9 aperture, LED flash and a 5MP front facing camera with LED flash for clicking selfies.

Both the Galaxy J7 and Galaxy J5 2016 come loaded with the newly launched S Bike Mode that allows riders to enjoy a tension free ride with unique features like urgent call alert and motion lock. They also have the Ultra Data Saving mode whereby consumers can save up to 50% on mobile and Wi-Fi data.

Both the phones offer connectivity options of 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, and microUSB 2.0. The Galaxy J7 (2016) weighs 170 grams whereas J5(2016) has weight of 159 grams.
