Sony Corporation of Japan, which has claimed to sold more than 2.1 million PlayStation 4 consoles within three weeks of its official launch, has decided to bring this successful console in India. Sony India will be launching PlayStaion4 in India on 18th December and in this connection, they have sent out media invites for the event. We shall be covering this event in New Delhi.
Sony has announced that they were able to sell one million of their consoles on the first day of the launch. This next-generation of PlayStation 4 console was launched in US on 15th November. Sony is very optimistic that keeping in view of its smash-hit performance so far in all the markets, the sales figure of this console will reach 5 million by the end of March 2014. Surprisingly, Sony has not released yet this PlayStation in Japan, but as per reports the same will debut in its home country in February 2014. However, this console is selling like hot cakes in 32 countries.
Interestingly, it is for the first time that Sony has kept the price of its PlayStation 4 console less than its main rival Xbox One of Microsoft. Sony’s PlayStation is priced at $399 compared to Microsoft’s Xbox One, which is being retailed for $499. Despite the high price of Microsoft, Xbox One is also moving very fast and Microsoft has also claimed that it has achieved sales figure of one million in first 24 hours from the released day of 22nd november.
Sony’s PlayStation4 translates to approx. Indian Rupees 25,000 at today’s rate of exchange, and after adding custom duty and other incidental charges, it is expected that this console would be priced in the range of Rs. 30,000 to 34,000. Let us wait till 18th December to see what Sony has in store for game lovers in India!
