Mi India, Xiaomi’s India operations company, revealed that it has sold over three million smartphones in India since its foray into Indian market in July, 2014. It started selling its devices exclusively via Flipkart in flash sales and now its devices are sold via Mi.com, as well as across other partners including Flipkart, Amazon, Snapdeal, The Mobile Store and Airtel.
Mi India crossed one million devices sold in India in December 2014. According to analyst firm IDC, Xiaomi became the fifth-largest smartphone company in India with a 4% market share in Q4 2014, a result that it achieved in just five months. By March 2015, Mi India crossed two million devices and in a span of just six months, it has crossed the three million mark.
Xiaomi started its business in India with its flagship Mi 3 in July 2014, and since then it has not looked back. Its devices have reeived overwhelming resposne because of their disruptive prices. To date, Xiaomi has introduced a wide variety of products in India, including Mi 3, Mi 4, Redmi 1S, Redmi 2, Redmi Note, Redmi Note 4G, Mi Pad, Mi 4i and Redmi 2 Prime, as well as other accessories such as Mi Band, Mi Power Banks and Mi Headphones.
In a demonstration of its commitment to India, Xiaomi recently announced that it will now manufacture its devices locally in India as part of the ‘Make in India’ programme. The company is already growing its presence rapidly in India. It currently has 70 service centres, out of which 10 are exclusive to Mi devices.
In July 2015, Mi India also announced the launch of its Mi Store app on Google Play, making it even more convenient for Mi fans to browse through and purchase amazing Mi products on the go. To date, it has already crossed 1 million app installs, as claimed by the company in its press statement.
