Xiaomi of China is going to make grand debut in India on 15th July with the launch of Mi3 smartphone, which they have already listed on their website for a smashing price of just Rs. 14,999. They are also teasing few more smartphones on their facebook page. It is our guesss that besides Mi3, the other smartphones to be launched could be Redmi, Redmi Note and maybe even the Mi Pad.
Xiaomi has sent out media invite for the launch event in New Delhi on 15th July whereXiaomi co-founder Bin Lin, Xiaomi Global VP Hugo Barra and India head Manu Jain, would be present and announce Xiaomi roadmaps for India.
As written by us in our earlier article, the Xiaomi Mi3 is equipped with strong hardware features. It sports a 5-inch 1080p IPS display(1920×1080 Full HD) and is powered by a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. It is equipped with 13-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash and also houses a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, with capacity of shooting 1080p videos. This smartphone runs Android Jelly Bean 4.3 OS optimized with Xiaomi’s MIUI version 5. It is fuelled by a huge 3,050mAh battery, whihc is claimed to deliver 500 hours of standby time, 50 hours of music playback, 25 hours of talk time and 21 hours of 3G Internet usage.
Xiaomi is the latest entrant in the highly competitive Indian market. The last two new Chinese companies which have established themselves in India are Gionee and Oppo. Gionee has become quite popular because of its vast retail and service network in India. For Xiaomi to succeed in India, they will have to spend a lot on their marketing and setting up the sale and service logistics in India.
Xiaomi will be selling their devices through flipkart and whether this arrangement is exclusive or Xiaomi would sell through mortar and brick stores also would be clear on 15th July, when they will come out with their India specific strategy.
