Xiaomi has introduced today its new brand POCO in India and launched the first smartphone – POCO F1 wit top of the range features such as Snapdragon 845 processor, 4000mAh battery, Dual Rear Cameras, 20MP front camera to name a few. This phone comes in three variants – 6GB+64GB, 6GB+128GB, and 8GB+256GB.
On the specifications front, the POCO F1 sports a 6.18-inch Full HD+ Display with resolution of 2246 × 1080 pixels and aspect ratio of 18.7:9 with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. This phone is powered by Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile processor paired with LiquidCool Technology cooling system which enables it to deliver sustained peak performance for extended periods. According to the company, internal testing shows that this system is 300% more effective than conventional, non-liquid cooling solutions as it allows heat from the CPU to dissipate quickly. For gaming this phone has Adreno 630 GPU and comes with three variants of 6GB LPDDR4x RAM with 64GB / 128GB of internal storage and 8GB LPDDR4x RAM with 256GB (UFS 2.1) storage which can be further extended up to 256GB with microSD card. This phone supports Hybrid Dual SIM(4G LTE). This phone is packed with 4000mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 for fast charging.
On the photography front, this phone is armed with Dual rear cameras of 12MP primary camera with Sony IMX363 sensor, Dual Pixel Autofocus, Dual LED Flash, f/1.9 aperture and 1.4um pixel size. The secondary camera has 5MP sensor. For selfies, this phone is equipped with 20MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture. Both the rear and front cameras are supported by AI features for photos, such as AI Portrait, AI Beautify, and AI Scene Detection.
The POCO F1 also comes with an infrared illuminator and infrared camera on the front, allowing the AI face unlock feature to securely unlock the device both in pitch-dark conditions as well as in bright daylight as claimed by the company. It also has fingerprint sensor on the back. For connectivity, this phone offers options of Dual 4G+ VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, 3.5mm audio jack GPS + GLONASS and USB Type-C port.
This phone runs on MIUI customised for POCO, based on Android Oreo 8.1 with POCO launcher which comes with an app drawer that can automatically categorize apps, helping users finds apps easily. In India, MIUI for POCO incorporates taxi, music, and video streaming services for an even more robust user experience. MIUI for POCO also prioritizes security with regular patches and updates from Google. It will receive the Android P update in the near future.
POCO F1 will be available with polycarbonate backs in Graphite Black, Steel Blue, and Rosso Red. POCO F1 is priced INR 20,999, INR 23,999, and INR 28,999 for the 6GB+64GB, 6GB+128GB, and 8GB+256GB respectively.
Xiaomi has also launched the Armoured Edition which comes in a single 8GB+256GB configuration and is priced at INR 29,999. Armoured Edition has a back panel made of DuPont Kevlar which is super-tough, heat-resistant material and is widely used in the aviation industry, the military, and high-end cycling. Its textured surface gives POCO F1 a unique appearance and provides a comfortable grip.
POCO F1 will go on sale on mi.com and Flipkart on 29th August 2018, starting 12 PM.
