After getting huge response for its MI 3 and Redmi 1S smartphones in India, Chinese handsets maker Xiaomi has launched today Redmi Note phablet in India in 3G version at an event in Gurgaon, near Delhi. The Redmi Note is priced at Rs. 8,999 and pre-order for this phablet will begun tomorow at 6PM on Flipkart and first lot of around 50,000 devices will be sold on 2nd December.
Xiaomi also announced launch of Redmi Note 4G, which is tailored specifically to India’s 4G network. It is being launched in partnership with Airtel, India’s largest telecom services provider. As part of the Airtel partnership, Redmi Note 4G will retail at select Airtel stores in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Chennai. The Customers will need to register online before visiting Airtel stores to purchase the device. Registration will start mid-December on www.airtel.com/Mi, with more details coming soon.
Like 3G version of Redmi Note, the 4G version of Redmi Note will also be sold through Mi India’s e-commerce partner, Flipkart. The 4G version of Redmi Note is priced at Rs. 9,999 and will be available by the end of December. The 4G Redmi Note is a dual band LTE phone which will work on both TDD-2300 MHz and FDD-1800 Mhz 4G frequency bands.
The difference between 3G and 4G versions of Redmi Note is that 3G is Dual SIM device and 4G version supports single SIM only. The 3G Redmi Note runs on jaded Android Jelly Bean 4.3 OS with MIUI v5 on top and 4G Redmi Note runs Android KitKat 4.4.2 OS with MIUI v5 on top. The 3G version is powered by a 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor whereas 4G version is driven by a 1.6GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8928 processor. Rest of the features of both versions of Redmi Note are same. Both the devices offer connectivity options of GPRS/EDGE, 3G/4G in different versions, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with Wi-Fi Direct and hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, Micro-USB port with OTG support etc.
