At an event in China, Xiaomi has expanded its portfolio of flagship smratphones and launched the Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus. Both the smartphones are powered by the latest Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 processsor. The Mi 5s features a 5.15 inch full-HD display while the Mi 5s Plus flaunts a 5.7 inch full HD display and both the displays have 1080×1920 pixels resolution.
The Mi 5s comes in two variants- 3GB RAM/ 64GB internal storage for CNY 1999 and 4GB RAM/ 128GB ROM at CNY 1,999 which work out to approximately Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 23,000 respectively.
The Mi 5s Plus has variants of 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage for CNY 2,299 and 6GB RAM/ 128GB ROM at CNY 2,599 which work out to Rs. 23,000 and Rs. 26,000 respectively without taking into account local Indian taxes.The Mi 5s is driven by 2.15GHz Snapdragon 821 processor and the Mi 5s is packed with 2.35GHz Snapdragon 821 processor.
The Mi 5s is equipped with a 12MP rear camera with Sony IMX378 1/2.3″ CMOS sensor with larger 1.55um pixels along with a 4MP front camera. On the other hand, the Mi 5s Plus comes with a dual-camera system – 13MP + 13MP- at the back. The one camera captures in colour while the other only in black and white. The two sensors work together to improve image quality. This phone has also 4MP front camera.
The Mi 5s incorporates an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor on the home button. It is placed under glass and is claimed to be more durable and will not get damaged with use. The fingerprint scanner on the Mi 5s Plus has been placed on the back panel.
The Mi 5s is packed with 3200mAh battery whereas the Mi 5s Plus gets its juice from 3800mAh battery. These phones offer connectivity options of 4G LTE, NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, USB Type-C, Bluetooth v4.2, Dual SIM (nano + nano) etc. These run on Android Marshmallow 6.0 OS with MIUI 8 on top.
These phones have brushed metal unibody with a seamless, button-free front design and will be available in White, Rose Gold, Silver and Gold colours.
