Delhi Police has joined the digital band wagon and has opened three Twitter accounts for the citizens of Delhi to connect with them through this social media channel also. The three Twitter accounts are – one for the Delhi Police (@DelhiPolice) and two accounts of the Commissioner of Police Mr. Bhim Sain Bassi (@BhimBassi) and @CPDelhi.
Delhiites can follow these three accounts to get the latest updates on the Delhi Police’s activities, learn about the latest safety initiatives and tips, and receive critical information during times of crisis in the nation’s capital. All three accounts will enable a two way interaction between Delhiites and the Delhi Police. Delhi citizens can also Tweet to the three accounts as follows:
The @DelhiPolice will work as the Delhi Police Control Room account. It will be a one stop shop for people to report issues and for Delhi Police to update them on law and order situations in the capital. It will supplement the Delhi Police control room in sourcing and distributing critical and time sensitive information.
The Delhi Police Commissioner Bhim Sen Bassi’s personal account (@BhimBassi) will be a place for free discussions where people can talk to the Country’s senior most IPS officer directly.
The CP Delhi (@CPDelhi) account will keep updates about the ongoing affairs at the Commissioner’s office.
Through the platform Delhi Police aims to connect real time with people to give them speedy updates and actions. Transparent, quick and real time conversations on Twitter have motivated governments and authorities to actively engage on the platform.
Leading the way was Bangalore Police (@BlrCityPolice), who joined Twitter in August 2014. Since their flag off, Bangalore Police has effectively utilised Twitter for constant interaction with its citizens. Achieving several milestones through the platform, Bangalore Police today stands at 116,000 number of followers.
The Bangalore Police Commissioner (@CPBlr) through his Twitter account has been personally supervising and tackling the grievances of people.
