It appears that Xiaomi of China has deciced to be transparent with its business in India. After being criticised for not revealing the actual number of Mi3 sold by them so far in India, the company disclosed few days ago that it had sold 20,000 devices. Xiaomi has now gone a step further and mentioned in its facebook post that 15,000 units of Mi3 will be available for next online sale on 5th August. The company has also mentioned in the facebook post that more than 100.000 prospective customers have already registered for the flash sale on 5th August in India.
From the above numbers released by Xiaomi, it appears that there is huge demand for Xiaomi Mi3, which comes at an atractive price of Rs. 13,999. It is also clear that Xiaomi and Flipkart are importing the device in small quantity. If the demand for their smartphone is so huge then why they are not bringing the Mi3 in big volumes. Do they want to create more buzz in the market or their is some problem with the manufacturing or there is any other story?
Commenting on the sales of 20,000 devices in India very quickly, Hugo Barra, Vice President, Xiaomi Global had said, “We are completely overwhelmed by the demand for Mi 3 by our fans here in India and are working diligently with our manufacturing partners as well as our local partners and the user community here in India to bring more devices and deliver the best possible product experience with Mi 3 and other models to come.”
We do hope that Xiaomi will not test the patience of its prospective customers and shall try its best to fulfill the demand as early as possible otherwise the customers will start looking at other options, which are in plenty.

You are absolutely right. Probably, they have logistics problem or unable to meet the demand or still testing the waters in India.
It is clear now that Xiaomi and Flipkart have followed a wrong practice of registration by mail, for the sale of Mi3 inviting lot of resentment among devout customers of Flipkart. They should have announced a pre-sale price, clearly indicating the availability of the product and likely no. of batches to which they can supply on ‘first come first served basis’.
Its Android kitkat 4.4.2 and not Jelly bean. I got the device and can conform it.
