After launching the first BlackBerry 7.1 operating system based Curve 9220 smartphone in India couple of weeks ago, Research In Motion (RIM) has announced the launch of its second smartphone in the Curve category, the Curve 9320.
BlackBerry Curve 9320 has identical features and specifications as of its predecessor, the Curve 9220, except one – WiFi hotspot functionality, making it the first Curve series phone to have the feature. The WiFi hotspot was announced by RIM for its high end devices earlier this year and has been incorporated in the BlackBerry Bold 9900 as well.
Notably, the WiFi hotspot functionality would enable Curve 9320 users to share internet with up to five different devices.
There’s hardly any other notable change. Like the Curve 9220, the 9320 features a 2.44″ inch display with a resolution of 320×240 pixels, the distinct BlackBerry Qwerty keypad, a 2 megapixel camera, stereo FM and media player, and expandable memory up to 32 GB. It also comes with a dedicated BBM button, which was introduced in the Curve 9220.
The Curve 9320 can be connected to other devices through Bluetooth, USB and Wi-Fi.
The device will come in multiple colours and is expected to hit Indian shores next month. Although RIM hasn’t disclosed the INR price of the product, it is expected that the Curve 9320 will carry a price tag of Rs. 12,000 to 14,000 keeping in view of influx of various smartphones in Indian market and dwindling sales of BlackBerry devices.
