Finally after lots of leaked apks, alpha builds, twitter updates (remember?!), videolan has finally pushed a beta version of VLC media player in Google Play Store.
This beta version is for devices with a CPU ARMv7 processors that support NEON. In layman terms, if you bought your device in last 6 months or so chances are that VLC Beta version will work for you. For others, VLC mobile team specifically mentions that other devices will be supported soon enough.
Moreover this is a beta release so much of functionality may change in final release. In words of VLC mobile team,
It might kill your kitten, destroy your house and start the mayan apocalypse. Use it at your own risk.
I used it for a while and as a media player, with support for both audio/video playback capability, VLC is aiming high with it’s android counterpart but a lot many features are missing in this beta release.
It’s a good app to keep an eye on and the sole reason to keep it installed and updated on your android device!
VLC media player for android is available for free in Google Play Store and can be downloaded using image link given below.
