Pearl Academy, India’s premier institute for design, fashion and business, has launched today the ‘Pearl Aptitude Test’ (PAT) application for Android devices. This app has been developed by the institute, and is based on Dr. Howard Gardner’s ‘Theory of Multiple Intelligences’, to help students choose a career which suits them best. Dr. Howard Gardner is a renowned American developmental psychologist.
The browser based career profiling app is available on the institute’s website and can be downloaded on Android devices from : http://pearlacademy.com/pat/
According to Pearl Academy, the aptitude test is based on Dr. Howard Gardner’s ‘Theory of Multiple Intelligences’, which assesses applicants’ human cognitive competence. Dr. Gardner’s theory suggests that human cognitive competence is better described in terms of a set of abilities, interest, talent and mental skills. All individuals possess each of the categories of intelligence to some extent. While the degree of skill and the nature of their combination would differ, all humans beings have a repertoire of abilities for solving different kinds of problems and cherish different products.
Speaking about the launch of the new app, Mr. Sharad Mehra, CEO, Pearl Academy, said “We are constantly innovating in our endeavor to provide quality education to students across the country. We have always tried to understand the needs of our stakeholders to provide them better education and career solutions. During this process only, we realized that when students are making choices about their careers and disciplines, there is often confusion in the minds of the students and their parents as to what choices to make. With this one-of-its-kind App, we want students to make informed and best choices for their future. The test is available to all school/graduating students and professionals who would need guidance in terms of the field they would excel in, basis their multiple intelligences and their cognitive competence.”
As informed by Pearl Academy, the aptitude test comprises 104 multiple choice questions. The duration of the test is 15-20 minutes, post which, a detailed analysis report on the following parameters are shared with the students: linguistic intelligence, logical-mathematical intelligence, musical intelligence, bodily-kinesthetic intelligence, spatial intelligence, interpersonal intelligence, intrapersonal intelligence. Best career options for each one of the students will then be sent across to their e-mail id with detailed description on top 3 dominant intelligences and relevant career options.
Pearl Academy also promises to assist students with guidance from their in-house counsellors about the best institutes that students from various fields could apply to. Pearl Aptitude Test will help students reach their vocational goals that are in sync with their multiple intelligences rather than measuring only linguistic and logical mathematical abilities.
