The leading Chinese smartphones maker Xiaomi, which forayed into India market on July 15th today announced that its entire Mi 3 stock was sold out in 38 minutes and 50 seconds on flipkart. This shows that Mi 3 is a huge hit among Indian consumers and the credit for this goes to Xiaomi which has put unbelieveable price tag of Rs. 13,999 on this device.
The Mi 3 is available exclusively on flipkart and Xiaomi is not selling its smartphone through any brick and mortar store . Registrations to purchase the device were open till July 21st and saw over 100,000 fans registered to buy the Mi 3, as claimed by Xiaomi today morning on its facebook page and later via press statement.
However, Xiaomi has not clarified how many units of Mi 3 were sold by flipkart. The next lot of Mi 3 would be available on 29th July on flipkart and those customers who could not get the device in the first lot, can try their luck in the second attempt.
Commenting on the sales, Manu Jain, India Operations Head, Xiaomi, said, “We are pleasantly surprised and delighted with the overwhelming response we have received from our India fans. We would like to apologize to our fans who couldn’t purchase the Mi 3 today. We are responding immediately to the commitment shown to us by our customers by focussing on the following – we are working with Flipkart to ensure the experience of purchase is improved further and technical issues are resolved. We know some of our fans must be disappointed. We want to make it up to them. Hence for the next sale on July 29th only, we will ensure that customers who missed out on today’s sale are automatically registered to buy a Mi 3 on 29th.We underestimated the demand we would receive and we are taking steps to ramp up the supply as soon as possible. That being said we are committed that over the next few months, every fan in India will get to own a Mi device.”
The Xiaomi Mi 3 is elegantly designed smartphone. It sports a 5-inch 1080p IPS display(1920×1080 Full HD) and is powered by a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. It is equipped with 13-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash and also houses a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, with capacity of shooting 1080p videos. This smartphone runs Android KitKat 4.4.2 OS optimized with Xiaomi’s MIUI version 5. It is fuelled by a huge 3,050mAh battery, which is claimed to deliver 500 hours of standby time, 50 hours of music playback, 25 hours of talk time and 21 hours of 3G Internet usage.
Once the exact figures of actual sales are out, we can say with confidence that Xiaomi will definitely change the trend of buying decision of Indian consumers who are slowly shedding the fear of buying China made good smartphones. We saw the mindset changing with Gionee, Lenovo and followed by Asus smartphones, which are also selling in good numbers in India.
very nice.
