Criticised for its same design of all Galaxy range of smartphones, Samsung has announced its new Galaxy Alpha smartphone, which it describes as the ” evolution of Galaxy design”. The Galaxy Alpha features a sophisticated design with a metal frame, elegantly curved corners and a tactile soft matte finish back cover.
“The Galaxy Alpha was built and designed based on the specific desires of the consumer market,” said JK Shin, CEO and Head of IT & Mobile Communication at Samsung Electronics. “With an entirely new appearance, the Galaxy Alpha focuses on both beauty and functionality combining a stunning metal frame and slim, light weight design with the same powerful hardware and features users expect from a flagship Galaxy mobile device.”
The Galaxy Alpha will start rolling out in global markets from the beginning of next month. It will be available in Charcoal Black, Dazzling White, Frosted Gold, Sleek Silver, and Scuba Blue colors depending upon the individual market requirements. Samsung has not revealed the price of Galaxy Alpha.
The Galaxy Alpha runs the latest Android 4.4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box and sports a 4.7 inch HD Super AMOLED display (1280 x 720). It is powered by Octa Core (Quad 1.8GHz + Quad 1.3GHz) processor, paired with 2GB RAM and 32GB ROM. There is no provision to extend the internal storage. The Galaxy Alpha is equipped with a 12-megapixel rear camera and also houses a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera. It is fuelled by a 1860mAh battery.
For connectivity options, it includes LTE, Micro-USB, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPRS/EDGE, 3G, and NFC. This phone measures 132.4 x 65.5 x 6.7 mm, and its weight is just 115 grams.
The Galaxy Alpha also includes innovative and popular features introduced by Samsung on its flagship Galaxy S 5 such as S Health and Finger Print Scanner. It also boasts of other features like Ultra-Power Saving Mode, Private Mode and connectivity with the latest Samsung Gear Fit, Gear Live and Gear 2 wearables.
