At an event in New Delhi, which was hosted by Lenovo Chairman and CEO, Yang Yuanqing along with Lenovo Executive Council and the Indian Leadership Team, the company showcased an impressive range of PCs, Smartphones, Tablets and other innovative technologies.
Besides PC’s business, Lenovo has also become a strong player in tablets and smartphones. The recent Motorola acquisition has catapulted Lenovo to the #4 position in the smartphone business globally and in India (IDC, Oct 2015).
Lenovo has been quite successful with its smartphones in India and claims to have sold over 1 million units of K3 Note in four months and 1.7 million units of A6000 series in ten months, making them the top selling 4G devices in the country. Lenovo’s K3 Note was declared the best-selling smartphone in India for Q3, 2015 by Counterpoint Technology Market Research.
After taking into fold Motorola business, Lenovo has also strengthened its footprint in the smartphone segment and both the companies are in the process of using their expertise to come out with more innovative and path-breakins smartphones in the future. Both Lenovo and Motorola smartphones have come to be known for their excellent features that make these devices very good offering for today’s needs of smartphones users.
The VIBE Shot is a powerful camera-focussed smartphone with a Pro-style camera, while the VIBE P1, the ultimate business smartphone incorporates enhanced security settings, a manual power saver switch that instantly extends battery life and has a fast OTG (On-the-go) charging function that enables you to charge other USB-connected devices as well. The Motorola Moto X Play and Moto X Style, both boasts of a 21 MP camera along with a water-repellent coating that protects them inside out.
The soon to be launched design & performance oriented VIBE S1 was also demonstrated. The VIBE S1 is unique because of its dual selfie cameras – the 8MP primary front camera and a 2MP secondary front camera analyzes depth of field information to replicate human binocular vision.The VIBE S1 also houses 13MP rear camera which boasts of phase-detection autofocus, dual-color flash which optimizes color tones based on ambient lighting.
This smartphone features a 5.0-inch FHD (1920X1080) IPS display and is powered by a 64-bit quad-core MediaTek (MT6752) 1.7GHz Octa-Core processor coupled with 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage extendable to 128GB via microSD card. It runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS. It is packed with 2500mAh battery.
This smartphone is expected to be launched in India shortly.
Lenovo also showcased SmartCast, the first-ever device with a unique projector that can turn any surface into a touchscreen.
Lenovo has not only re-invented and invigorated the PC category, but has also introduced new form factors, thereby differentiating itself in computing category. With AIOs and Tiny, Lenovo has transformed desktops. The company created the 2-in-1 notebook category with the multimode laptops under the Yoga brand, and redefined the Tablet category with the Yoga Tablet. In doing so, Lenovo has taken a leadership position across different segments, thereby growing faster than the industry for several years in a row.
In computing devices segment, Lenovo displayed ThinkPad Yoga 260, an exceptionally thin, light and flexible premium convertible laptop with four operating modes – Laptop, Stand, Tent and Tablet. The big hits in the gaming segment, the Ideacentre Y900 and Ideacentre Y700 and the Yoga 500, Yoga 700 and the world’s thinnest convertible Yoga 900 were some of the other PC showcased during the event. The YOGA Tab 3 Pro, the ultimate video tablet and PHAB Plus, a Tablet with the true portability of a Smartphone were part of the tablet experience zone.
