China’s search engine giant Baidu has pledged to save environment cause in India and worldwide. With reference to India,Baidu India had launched a green initiative encouraging people to light lamps instead of firecrackers dring Diwali festival. For every diya lit, Baidu India had pledged to plant a tree to support an environmentally friendly India. This type of initiative is quite encouraging for India as we are facing a huge problem of air pollution especially in metropolitan cities like Delhi.
The other initiative taken by Baidu is introduction of DU Battery Saver, one of Baidu’s most popular Android apps outside of China. According to the company, this app enables smartphone users to conserve electricity by charging their devices less frequently, which is the bane of smartphones users worldwide.
According to data from the product developers, DU Battery Saver can cumulatively save over 59,000 KWh of electricity every day across all of its users worldwide, which is equivalent to the amount of power consumed by roughly 20,000 households in India. In 2014, DU Battery Saver partnered with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) to raise awareness of Earth Hour, the world’s largest grassroots environmental movement organized by WWF.
Baidu is portrayed as the Chinese equivalent of Google and dominates internet search in China. In addition to serving individual Internet search users, Baidu provides an effective platform for businesses to reach potential customers.
