Wondering what does the term Flipped Classroom mean? Well, a Flipped Classroom actually is a new way of teaching students using new methods of learning apart from the conventional way using the blackboard and chalks. Many find that conventional means is the best way of teaching but the idea of Flipped Classroom has given the process of teaching and learning a new dimension.
With the advancement of technology, the students are also adopting new means of education like digital classrooms, tablet learning and much more. In India, mostly those schools that follow CBSE pattern has adopted the idea of the digital classroom. There are some benefits regarding the Flipped Classroom which are explained below:
- In this mode of teaching, teachers use videos to make the student understand a particular topic. This means, that the student is no longer needed to rely upon the notes provided by the teachers or the textbooks like NCERT and can study from the videos and make his/her own notes. Another advantage of studying using video lectures is that the student can stop, pause or rewind the video and hence they may have the better understanding of that topic.
2. The main advantage of adopting the idea of flipped classroom is that the teacher gets one to one interaction with the students and hence if there is any doubt regarding any topic then the student can easily ask without hesitating. Most of the time the shy students are unable to ask their questions in the class but this will not happen in this case.
3. One more feature added to the learning process is the CCE or the Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation by CBSE. It is also effective as they students don’t feel overburdened. The CCE includes projects and other activities which is different from the earlier evaluation process where the student needed to take examinations having a total of 100 marks. On the contrary, CCE comprises of Formative and Summative Assessment schemes in which the total marks is dependent upon the performance of the student in both the Assessments.
4. This type of classroom learning is very effective as the students who are weak in studies can also catch-up with those who are the bright ones. As there is a video lecture-based learning, the students can learn and come prepared. Any topic that they feel is not covered or understood can be easily played and studied.
5. The flipped classroom also includes studying through performing practicals. The practicals performed by the students give an idea about actually how things work. Even in the digital classrooms, the small processes like photosynthesis can also be shown using videos. This takes the process of learning to another level.
To sum up, the above type of learning is far better than the conventional ways.
