Xiaomi’s highest shipped smartphone Redmi Note 4 has been announced today in Lake Blue Edition to commemorates the company’s latest project of ‘Wake the lake’ campaign. As a part of the initiative, part of the proceeds from the sale of each device will go towards support for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Redmi Note 4 Lake Blue Edition will be available in 4GB RAM + 64GB internal storage variant. Priced at Rs. 12,999 it will go on sale at 12 pm on September 4, on Mi.com, Flipkart, as well as Mi Home stores, Mi Preferred Partner stores and other offline stores.
This phone sports a 5.5 inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels, 401ppi) display with 2.5D curved glass. It is powered by octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor clocked at 2.0GHz with Adreno 506 graphics processing unit (GPU).
The camera of this phone has been optimized to produce sharp and vibrant images compared to Redmi Note 3. This phone is equipped with 13MP CMOS camera with Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) for faster focusing, f/2.0 aperture, Dual-Tone LED flash and a Backside Illuminated (BSI) sensor with 1.12-micron pixels. It also houses a 5 MP front camera with 85-degree wide angle lens.
This phone incorporates fingerprint scanner on the back panel for unlocking the phone and for taking selfies. It also has an infrared sensor. This phone runs on MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
This phone gets its juice from powerful 4100mAh battery which is claimed to last on average 25% longer than Redmi Note 3. It offers connectivity options of 4G with VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS + GLONASS.
Xiaomi has sold more than 5 million units of Redmi Note 4 in less than 6 months. As per IDC Q2 2017 smartphone tracker, Redmi Note 4 is India’s highest shipped smartphone in a quarter in the history of indian smartphone industry.
Xiaomi has taken up the responsibility of restoring Kempabudhi kerre as the first lake. Kempabudhi Kerre was inaugurated by Kempegowda who is the founder of Bengaluru and it is among the initial lakes of the city. Xiaomi has extended its support to Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and United Way, an NGO restoring lakes of Bengaluru.
Xiaomi is supporting BBMP in several restoration areas such as plantation of saplings, setting up of benches around the kerre, setting up of solar lights, an outdoor fitness center with a children play area and setting up toilet facilities in the kerre region.
