Currently, there are three established operating systems for smartphones – Apple’s iOS, Google’s Android and Microsoft’s Windows based and 7.5 ( Mango ) is the latest operating system. Till now, only two major companies have come out with Windows based smartphones – Nokia and HTC. Samsung has also introduced smartphones on Windows platforms but they are low end models and focus of Samsung is on Android based smartphones and their hottest product Galaxy II smartphone is Android based and their recently introduced Galaxy Note smartphone is also Android based.
Nokia has recently launched amidst much fanfare its Lumia series 800 and 710 Windows based smartphones. Only Nokia can take lead in giving tough challenge to Android based smartphones and small players like Acer and HTC can complement Nokia’s fight against Android based phones.
It is interesting to see who is the winner ultimately. Currently, Android based smartphones are far ahead and Apple iPhone is different class altogether.
