Airtel Revises Broadband Plans – “Automatically” Upgrades Users To 2 Mbps

Airtel recently upgraded the plans of it’s broadband users to a minimum of 2 Mbps, in accordance with TRAI’s rules (something related to the definition of broadband). All those who were on 256 Kbps, 512 Kbps, 1 Mbps Airtel broadband plans were upgraded to 2 Mbps plan.

The new plan to which Airtel “automatically” upgraded costs Rs. 749 plus taxes. The reason I say “automatically” is that Airtel meekly revised the plans by sending an email to it’s customers. Though I appreciate this move and the fact that we’ll now be able to enjoy blazing fast speed of 2 Mbps barring the crappy FUP limits they have imposed, but they should have at-least called the users informing about the same.

Anyhow, as I mentioned, the 2 Mbps plan that Airtel has upgraded the users to is pretty impressive except for the Fair Usage Policy, which at 8 GB per month is way too less than what a 2 Mbps broadband users expects. See below for more details about the new plan and it’s offering:

P.S: If your Airtel Broadband plan hasn’t yet been upgraded then be patient, Airtel seems to be doing so in phases.
