As expected, Apple Inc.’s CEO Tim Cook unveiled today new iPhone 5 made of glass and aluminium, in a much-awaited media event in San Francisco. This iPhone is taller, leaner, lighter, shinier and packs in much more punch than ever. The new device has following salient features :
- 4″ inch Retina display with a resolution of 1136 x 640 pixels at 326 ppi
- 7.66 mm thick, almost a whopping 18% thinner than its predecessor iPhone 4S
- Weighs just 112 gram, again 20% lighter than 4S
- Runs on iOS 6
- It is powered by the A6 chip – 2X faster CPU, 2X faster graphics, 22 per cent smaller
- Equipped with an 8 megapixel (3264×2448) camera. The lens is the same as the 4S, but thinner
- 4G LTE compliant
- 40 per cent faster image capture than the iPhone 4S
- Lets users take photos while recoding video
- It has a new connector – Lightning
- Available in 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB versions.

- Available in white and silver or black and slate
Pre-orders starts on 14th Sept and shipping starts on 21st Sept in select countries. It will be coming to India in December, 2012
Apple’s iPhone 5 will be available in the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and the UK on 21st September, 2012 and customers can pre-order their iPhone 5 beginning Friday, September 14, 2012.
The iPhone 5 will roll out worldwide to 22 more countries on September 28, including Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. It will arrive in India in December, 2012
