Asus Launches Its First Smartwatch – Asus ZenWatch With Android Wear OS

Asus of Taiwa has also jumped into the bandwagon of smartwatches and announced its first Asus ZenWatch at IFA event in Berlin. The Asus ZenWatch is powered by Android Wear OS with a specially developed smartwatch version of the ZenUI on top of it. This exquisitely-crafted and slim smartwatch pairs seamlessly with a smartphone running Android 4.3 or higher.

The ZenWatch has 9-axis sensor and is claimed to be fully-featured wellness manager. The ASUS ZenUI Wellness app lets users monitor and track a range of wellness statistics including steps taken, calories burned, activity duration, heart rate, exercise intensity and relaxation level. Users can set and monitor personal fitness goals with ease, and see their progress at a glance.

The ZenWatch also boasts of smart features such as Watch Unlock, Tap Tap, Remote Camera, Cover to Mute, Find My Phone and Presentation Control. According to Asus, ZenWatch can be seamlessly integrated with ASUS smartphones for bringing enhanced versions of ASUS ZenUI apps such as What’s Next and Do It Later.

The Asus ZenWatch has a 1.63 inch AMOLED display, and is driven by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of built-in storage. This smartwatch has a 1.4Wh battery. This smartwatch is water-resistant and weighs 75 grams with the strap.

To make it comfortable on the wrist of the users, the Asus ZenWatch comes with a soft genuine stitched-leather strap and quick-release clasp. The 2.5D curved glass increases usability with a smooth and responsive touch experience. ZenWatch comes with a selection of instantly-changeable software watch faces, allowing users to customize ZenWatch easily to match their style.

The ZenWatch is priced at 199 euros, which translate to approxiamtely Rs. 16,000 without taxes. This smartwatch will compete with Moto 360, LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live. It it expected to be launched in India by the end of 2014.
