Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi presented the Samsung’s latest premium and most advanced smart phones, Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, to Samsung customers in Gurgaon at Ambience Mall yesterday. These two flagship devices were unveiled by Samsung at an event in New Delhi on 23rd March.
The Samsung GALAXY S6 is priced at INR 49,900 (32GB), INR 55,900 (64GB) and INR 61,900 (128GB), whereas GALAXY S6 edge has a price tag of INR 58,900 (32GB), INR 64,900 (64GB) and INR 70,900 (128GB).
The GALAXY S6 and GALAXY S6 edge will be available in White Pearl, Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum, Blue Topaz (GALAXY S6 only) and Green Emerald (GALAXY S6 edge only).
The Galaxy S6 Edge comes with a solid grip and an immersive viewing experience. The company claims that it has world’s first curved display on both sides. Both the devices have glass body, made from the toughest glass to date, with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection on both sides.
There is not much difference between Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge except the curved design of S6 Edge and higher battery capacity of S6 Edge.
Both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge sports a 5.1-inch Quad HD (1440×2560 pixels) Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of 577ppi. They are powered by a Quad 2.1GHz + Quad 1.5Ghz, Octacore application processor, coupled with 3GB RAM and internal storage of 32/64/128GB. Both the smartphones come preloaded with Microsoft apps such as OneDrive offering 115GB for 2 years, and OneNote.
These devices are equipped with a 16-megapixel rear camera with OIS (optical image stabilisation) and LED flash. These smartphones have 5-megapixel front camera for selfies. Both the devices incorporate camera features such as Quick Launch, Tracking AF, Auto Real-time HDR(Front & Rear) , F1.9, Low Light Video(Front & Rear), High Clear Zoom, IR Detect White Balance, Virtual Shot, Slow Motion, Fast Motion, Pro Mode, Selective Focus etc.
The Galaxy S6 is packed with 2,550mAh battery whereas the Galaxy S6 Edge has 2,600mAh battery. Samsung has introduced for the first time wireless charging for these two devices. They can be charged with any wireless pad available in the market that supports WPC and PMA standards. Both these devices are 46 LTE compliant and run on Android 5.0 (Lollipop) OS and Samsung has for the first time simplified its Touch Wiz interface to make these two devices run faster.
The GALAXY S6 and GALAXY S6 edge are built on the upgraded Samsung KNOX, end-to-end secure mobile platform, offering defense-grade features for real-time protection from potential malicious attacks. Additionally, the Find My Mobile feature secures lost devices and protects personal information through a number of services, including the all new remotely controlled “Reactivation lock.”
To make the offer sweeter for Indian users, Samsung has partnered with Bharti Airtel which will offer double data benefit to its GALAXY S6 & S6 Edge users on select prepaid and postpaid data pack/ plan subscription. While users on Airtel 4G will be able to enjoy double data benefit for a period of 6 months, 3G users can avail it for 2 months.
