Canon India has launched today world’s highest resolution full-frame DSLR cameras –  EOS 5DS and EOS 5DSR, which are equipped with a 50.6-megapixel 35mm, full-frame CMOS sensor processors. These two high-end flagship cameras are targetted for professional photographers and are priced Rs. 2,52,995 for EOS 5DS variant and the EOS 5DSR has a price tag of Rs. 2,65,995.

The EOS 5DS R features cancellation of its Optical Low Pass Filter (LPF) effect, which according to Canon, allows the camera to take full advantage of the extremely high resolution sensor and capture very fine levels of detail and texture.  The EOS 5DS R is ideally suitable for commercial and studio photography where the shooting environment is controlled and extremely high resolution is needed for massive prints.

The EOS 5DS features a functional LPF, just like other DSLR cameras in the Canon lineup. These cameras have been especially designed for those users who need to capture even the finest level of detail, especially studio, commercial and advertising photographers.

The USP of these two cameras is that they are equipped with a 50.6-megapixel 35mm full-frame CMOS sensor. They have the highest resolution in Canon’s history of EOS cameras.

The EOS 5DS & EOS 5DS R also feature a new “Fine Detail” Picture Mode that allows configuring the sharpness level, thereby allowing for even more fine detail capture. This is especially important for commercial, product and advertising photography where fine textures of materials are represented with the highest possible level of detail and resolution, as stated by Canon.

To handle the ultrahigh pixel count, Canon has also introduced a new cam-motor driven mirror mechanism to minimize mirror vibrations that occur and cause image shake, in these two cameras.

The EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R also feature a brand new 150,000-dot RGB+IR Metering and automatic exposure system. This newly developed metering system ensures proper exposure and accurate colour tones even in the most challenging lighting conditions.

Both EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R feature the latest dual DIGIC 6 image processors, allowing for a maximum continuous shooting speed of 5.0fps, at a full resolution of 50.6 megapixels.

Alongside EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R, Canon has also launched today XC10 4K Professional Video Camera featuring a compact, lightweight and versatile design for convenient 4K video shooting and 12 Megapixel digital still photography. This video camera is suitable for wedding videographers, documentary and small filmmakers and news gathering agencies. The unique point about this product is its ability to extract 8 megapixel still images in-camera from recorded 4K footage.

The XC10 Professional Video Camera’s 4K imaging system incorporate proprietary components, including a Genuine Canon 10x Wide-Angle Zoom Lens with 2x Digital Tele-converter and Optical Image Stabilization. Employing a special Canon compact optical system, the lens offers a zoom ratio of 27.3-273mm for movies and 24.1-241mm for photos. It comes with DIGIC DV5 signal processor that provides the image-processing power and speed to deliver high image quality, performance and innovative new features like the Canon XF-AVC codec for 4K and HD recording.

The XC10 is priced at Rs. 1,70,000.

At the launch event, Canon also announced that they will be opening  200 Canon Image Squares (CIS) by end of 2015 across India, where complete range of Canon products will be available. These CIS will help the company to make products easily available and give customers good platform to experience all the Canon products.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Kazutada Kobayashi, President and CEO, Canon India stated, “India is an important market for us. We as a digital imaging leader in the region are committed to bring innovation and advancement on the table. Canon’s vision has always been to give the industry newer experiences of creating high quality imaging, both in photography and videography. With the introduction of the world’s highest resolution full frame camera, Canon has unveiled cutting-edge technology in the camera industry.
