Under the Make in India initiative, the leading home-grown mobile phones brand will start manufacturing tablets to start with in Trupati in Andhra Pradesh. The honorable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated Celkon Mobile Manufacturing plant along with 3 other manufacturing units to be set-up in Tirupati.
Celkon mobile Chairman and Managing director Mr. Y Guru had an interaction with Honorable Prime Minister Modi and told him they kept a target to start production from this plant within six months from now and tablet PC’s are going to be the first products to be made in this facility
Shri Narendra Modi congratulated Celkon Mobiles and 3 other brands for the initiative and Mr. Chandra Babu Naidu Chief Minister wished Celkon to grow its footprints in International markets too and bring laurels to state as a home grown make in India and made in Andhra Brand.
Speaking on the occasion Mr Y Guru Chairman and managing director Celkon mobiles said, we will hire 60% women for assembling lines to empower rural women. This mobile manufacturing hub will generate 45000 direct and indirect employment by 2019 and employment for 10000- 12000 people within one year.
Just to remind our readers, many Chinese companies have also started partly manufacturing their mobile devices in India in partnership with Foxconn of China. These companies are Gionee, Xiaomi and Lenovo etc.
