That India is a huge market for sub Rs. 10,000 smartphones can be confirmed with the fact that many smartphones priced less than Rs. 10,000 are selling like hot cakes in this country. The YUREKA smartphone introduced last month is one of such device, which is priced at Rs.8,999.
As announced by YU, the new online brand from Micromax, that the third sale of YUREKA, the first Indian smartphone launched with Cyanogen OS, has received yet another overwhelming response and sold off 10,000 units today in just 3 seconds. YUREKA is being sold through its exclusive online partner Amazon.in, and have received a phenomenal response from the users in the first two flash sales in January as well.
In the month of February, YU has announced that it will be looking at ramping up the availability of the device and will put almost double the amount of devices for sale to enable more YUREKA fans to have in their possession. In addition to this, the device will go on sale every Thursday at 2pm, registrations for which will begin a week prior on the same day at 5pm. Users will have to register to participate in the weekly flash sale and registrations of previous sales will not be valid for future sales.
The Yureka smartphone supports Dual-SIM and features a 5.5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) IPS display with a pixel density of 267ppi and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is powered by a 64-bit 1.5GHz octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor (MSM8939), coupled with Adreno 405 GPU and 2GB of RAM. It has internal storage of 16GB, which can be extended upto 32GB via microSD card.
The Yureka is equipped with a 13-megapixel Sony Exmor CMOS sensor rear autofocus camera with an f/2.2 aperture and flash. It also houses a 5-megapixel fixed-focus front camera for the selfies lovers. It is fuelled by a 2500mAh Li-Po battery, which is claimed to provide talk time up to 9 hours, standby time up to 310 hours and video playback time of up to six hours.
Cyanogen OS is built on Android 4.4.4 OS and is known for delivering a number of rich software advancements that optimize performance, customization, security, and privacy features on mobile devices. Cyanogen has promised an Android 5.0 Lollipop-based build in due course of time.
