What To Expect From Nokia & Samsung At Upcoming MWC

This year, Nokia is participating in a big way at the upcoming Mobile World Congress ( MWC) 2014 event, which is scheduled to take place in Barcelona, Spain, from 24 to 27 February. Nokia has sent out the media invite for a press conference to be held on 24th February. This invite has put rumor mills in the full motion and as per various speculations, Nokia is set to launch six devices at the MWC event, which would incude a few smartphones and phablets.

Some of the devices which are rumored to be announced at the MWC event are : the flagship Nokia Lumia 1820, which may have a full metal unibody build, and could be powered by a Snapdragon 805 processor, coupled with 3GB of RAM with a 32GB expandable storage, 5.2-inch screen with a 2K pixel resolution. It is going to be packed with a 3400mAh battery. The second device getting currency is Lumia 1525, which is revamped version of Lumia 1520, with enhanced camera and battery features. There are also chances of another Lumia 1520V, which is the stripped-down version of Lumia 1520, with smaller screen size of 4.3 inch screen, and other hardware features are expected to be same as of Lumia 1520.

The other strong rumors about upcoming Nokia devics suggest that two smartphones codenamed Goldfinger and Moneypenny would debut in MWC. These phones are expected to run the unannounced Windows 8.1 OS. The Goldfinger is speculated to be the premium smartphone from the stable of Nokia and may feature 3D touch technology, whereas the Moneypenny would be the first Windows phone with Dual-SIM capabilities.

There are also rumors about budget Android Nokia phone, but we have doubts about this device. Had Nokia ever decided to try Android OS on its smartphones then the story of Nokia affairs would have been entirely different.

As per the rumors, Samsung will not launch its latest flgship Galaxy S5 smartphone at the MWC. However, they are definitely going to showcase device running on its own developed Tizen OS. Samsung has sent the media invite, which reads,”Please join the Tizen Association Board on Sunday, 23 February 2014 for a welcome reception and kick-off to MWC 2014. During this invite only event, you will get an exclusive sneak preview of the newest Tizen devices as well as an opportunity to learn about the major milestones that the Tizen project has hit since last year’s event.”

Since Tizen OS is going to become reality, we can expect many smartphones from the house of Samsung, coming to the markets in the coming months, which will be running on their own OS.
