Another technology company Yahoo has also decided to give its employees new smartphones which have become very popular of late. While many new smartphones have been launched recently, Yahoo CEO Marissa Meyer wants all her employees to be on the same page as its customers and that is why she has decided to offer her staff free smartphones. As part of company’s “Smart Phone, Smart Fun” initiative, the company will offer choice to all its full and part-time to select one of the latest state of the art iPhone 5, Galaxy SIII, Nokia Lumia 920 or HTC One X or HTC Evo 4G LTE.
Initially, the smartphones will be given to US employees and later on this initiative will be extended to remaining 22 countries where Yahoo employees are located. Yahoo does not want to burden its employees with payment of data plans for their smartphone, therefore the company will foot their monthly phone and data usage bills. They want its employees to experience whole new world of new smartphones without any problem and be par with its customers and their expectations.
Al the employees of Yahoo are delighted to read the following internal memo from its CEO:
We have a very exciting update to share with you today – we are announcing Yahoo! Smart Phones, Smart Fun! As of today, Yahoo is moving off of blackberries as our corporate phones and on to smartphones in 22 countries. A few weeks ago, we said that we would look into smartphone penetration rates globally and take those rates into account when deciding on corporate phones. Ideally, we’d like our employees to have devices similar to our users, so we can think and work as the majority of our users do.
Moving forward, we’ll offer you a choice of devices as well as provide monthly plans for the data and phone. The smartphone choices that we are including in the program are:
Apple iPhone 5 Android: – Samsung Galaxy S III – HTC One X – HTC EVO 4G LTE Windows Phone 8: – Nokia Lumia 920
We’re getting started right away and taking orders starting now.
This is sound strategy to keep the flock together in troubled times and also to remain them abreast with latest advancements in technology. All the handsets makers whose devices are listed shall be amused with these developments and would wish that more and more companies follow the same practice so that they could laugh all the way to their banks.
