At an event in Beijing, Gionee has launched today its flagship ELIFE E8 and mid-range Marathon M5 smartphones. Gionee has announced the prices of these devices in Chinese currency. The Marathon M5 is priced at 2299 RMB and the ELIFE E8 at 3999 RMB. Gionee has not announced when these two smartphones will be introduced in India, but it will not be late debut as India is very significant market for Gionee.
The USP of ELIFE E8 is its imaging prowess. It is packed with 24 MP rear camera, which will be able to produce photographs up to 120 Mpxl in resolution. E8 is the first Android smartphone to offer Lossless zoom that maintains image quality even at 3X zoom along with host of enhanced camera features. Some of the key features of the ELIFE E8 include One dedicated shooting button, 8 MP front camera, magic focus among others.
The Gionee E8 also featurs massive display of 6 inches with WQHD Super AMOLED Display. It is powered by an Octa Core 2.0 GHz CPU (Chipset MTK6795) coupled with 3GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. This smartphone is 4G compliant and comes with Dual-SIM and both of which will support 4G. It runs on Android Lollipop 5.1 OS with layer of Gionee’s Amigo 3.1.
The ELIFE 8 is packed with 3520mAh battery with fast charging feature, and also boasts of Biological (Fingerprint) recognition system ,NFC, Dual Speaker and HIFI Sound.
On the other hand, the Marathon M5 is fuelled by massive battery of 6000 mAh that is claimed to last upto 4 days, which is a great improvement over the 5,000mAh battery provided by Gionee in its M3 smartphone. The M5 is also good enough to standby for up to 62 hours even if there is only 5% of power left, as stated by the company. The M5 can be charged within a short time and is also capable of reverse charging – it can be used as a power bank to charge two cellphones at the same time.
The Marathon M5 is Dual-SIM LTE supported device and features a 5.5inch HD , AMOLED display. It is driven by Octa Core 2.0 GHz CPU (MT 6735 chipset) paired with 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage. It runs on Android Lollipop OS with Amigo 3.1 on top. It is equipped with 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera.
At the launch event, Gionee also announced its cooperation with WeBank to launch the Gionee Wallet. The company will work to build a reliable vertical ecosystem based on the personal mobile devices.
