At an event in Beijing, Gionee has launched today two new smartphones in their popular M series – M6 and M6 Plus. The USP of these two devices are its massive batteries and integrated security measures for securing the users privacy. Gionee M6 and M6 Plus will have an encrypted chip on the Chinese version only to secure a user’s personal data on the device. In the overseas version and for India, the M6 and M6 Plus will be equipped with a front fingerprint scanner only which is provided on the home button.
The M6 features a 5.5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) Amoled display with 401ppi pixel density. Under the hood is a 64-bit 1.8GHz MediaTek Helio P10 octa-core processor paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage which can be extended upto 128GB storage via microSD card. This is Dual SIM device.
On the camera front, the M6 is armed with 13MP rear camera with Sony IMX258 sensor, PDAF and LED flash. It also houses an 8MP selfie camera.
The Gionee M6 is packed with massive 5000mAh battery which comes with 9V2A dual charge chips for fast charging. The battery can be used as a power bank and with a 1.2A charge current, the charging speed is 20% faster than a normal power bank.
The M6 offers connectivity options of 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS/AGPS, Bluetooth, USB OTG, and Micro-USB port etc. This phone has dimensions of 152.3×75.3x 8.2mm and its weight is 180grams.
The M6 Plus flaunts a 6 inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) Amoled display with 2.5D curved glass. It is driven by 2GHz Octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 (MT6755) processor with Mali T860MP2 GPU paired with 4GB RAM, 64GB /128GB Internal memory which is further expandable to 128GB with micro SD card support.
The M6 Plus is equipped with 16MP rear camera with dual-tone LED flash and PDAF. It hosues an 8MP front-facing camera with Omnivision OV8856 sensor and f/2.2 aperture. This phone is packed with huge 6,020mAh battery with fast charging features as in the case of M6.
The M6 Plus has dimensions of 160.5 x 80.6 x 8.2mm and its weigh is 215grams. This phone also supports 4G LTE and offes other standared connectivity options.
Botht the phones run Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) with Amigo OS 3.5 on the top. Both the phones have an aerospace class unibody aluminum design with 2.5D glass cover on the front.
In China, the M6 is priced RMB 2899 and RMB 2699 for 128GB and 64GB variants, respectively. The M6 Plus is priced RMB 3199 and RMB 2999 for 128GB and 64GB variants, respectively. In Indian Rupees, these prices work out approximately between Rs. 27,000 to Rs. 32,000. These phones are expected to be launched in India very soon. These phones will be available in Gold & Latte Gold colors.
