Google has announced its latest smartphone – Nexus 6, made by Motorola, which is making waves for its Moto G and Moto X range of smartphones. The Nexus 6 has a curved aluminum frame, and features a Quad HD 5.96 inch display with 1440×2560 resolution (493 ppi). The screen size of Nexus 6 is bigger than iPhone 6 Plus and Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Google has entered the phablet market with an elan with the offering from one of the world’s best vendors of smartphones.
The Nexus 6 is powered by very powerful and fast Quad Core Snapdragon 805 processor clocked at 2.7 GHz with Adreno 420 GPU. It comes with 3 GB RAM and will be available with 32 GB and 64 GB ROM options. This smartphone is equipped with 13 MP rear facing camera with f/2.0 sensor, Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and dual LED flash. It also houses a front facing 2 MP camera. The phone comes pre-loaded with the new Android Lollipop 5.0 OS.
The large screen of Nexus 6 is complemented by dual front-facing stereo speakers that claims to deliver high-fidelity sound, which will be great for movies and gaming as it is for doing work. The Nexus 6 is fuelled by massive 3220mAh battery, which is claimed to give 24 hours of usage with a single charge. It also comes with a Turbo Charger which will help you get up to six hours of use with only 15 minutes of charge.
Nexus 6 will be available for pre-order through the Google Play Store in late October starting at $649 for 32GB version and $699 for 64GB. Google will start shipping the Nexus 6 in November in US. The Nexus 6 will be available in Midnight Blue or Cloud White color options. The Nexus 6 will be available in 28 more countries across Europe, Asia-Pacific and North America including India, by the end of this year.
The new Android 5.0 Lollipop OS, which comes on Nexus 6, will also be available on Nexus 4, 5, 7, 10 and Google Play edition devices in the coming weeks.
The Nexus 6 will give strong competition to Apple iPhone 6 Plus, Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and LG G3 smartphones. For Indian perspective, the Nexus 6 will pose very stiff challenge to above stated devices if it is priced below Rs. 45,000.
