Google India has launched today budget Chromebook notebooks in India, which are made by Indian brands Xolo and Nexian. The Xolo and Nexian Air Chromebooks are priced Rs. 12,999. The Nexian Air Chromebook, featuring a rugged splashproof construction and with a handle, is now available from Amazon.in whereas the Xolo Chromebook will be available in the next few days at Snapdeal.
Google India also announced tha the latest units from ASUS including the Chromebook Flip and C201 and Samsung Chromebook 2 will be available from local retailers in the coming months.
Both the two Chromebooks – Xolo and Nexian Air have similar specifications. These Chromebooks comes with an 11.6-inch TFT display (1366x768p). They are driven by a 1.8GHz Cortex A17 Rockchip quad core processor coupled with 2GB DDR3 RAM and 16GB internal storage with provision of SD card slot for expansion of storagee. These Chromebooks have 2 USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI port, 1MP web camera and support Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi. These two Chromebooks are packed with a 4200mAh battery, which is claimed to offer back-up of upto 10 hours.
Both the Chromebooks run on the latest version of Google’s Chrome OS and will be updated every six weeks.
Basically, these Chromebooks work when you are connected to the internet. But these Chromebooks can work offline also with the apps like Gmail Offline and Google Docs. There are more offline apps in the Chrome Web Store also.
Besides above two devices, Google India also announced today that new Chromebooks are available for Indian schools and educational institutions nationally. These Chromebooks come with Google Apps for Education which make it easy to create, learn and collaborate. These Chromebooks boot up instantly and help teachers and students get straight down to learning. With these Chromebooks, Google also offers Chromebook Management Console with which administrators can set up and manage up to thousands of Chromebooks from a computer or phone.
Finally, Google India also announced the availability of Chromebooks for Businesses and Chromebox for meetings. Chromebox for Meetings brings together Hangouts, Google Apps and easy to manage Chromebox, making it simple and affordable for any company to have high definition video meetings.
Chromebox for meetings comes with a blazingfast Intel Core i7based Chromebox, a high definition camera, a combined microphone and speaker unit and a remote control and all this package has a price tag of Rs. 90.000.
