Google Nexus 10 Tablet Will Give Tough Challenge To Apple iPad

There is no doubt that Apple is unchallenged leader of tablet business and no company even its arch-rival Samsung has been able to come closer to its supermacy. But how long it can cling to its number one position is yet to be seen. But after launch of Google’s Nexus 10 tablet made by Samsung, which has some better features than iPad, will pose tough challenge to Apple’s most sought-after device. Just have a look at following comparisons:

Display

Google Nexus 10 display size is 10.055-inch, 2,560 x 1,600 pixels with 300ppi whereas iPad has a 9.7-inch display with a 2,048 x 1,536 pixels and a 264 ppi.

Operating System

Google’s Nexus runs on latest Android Jelly Bean OS whereas iPad runs on Apple’s latest iOS 6. Apple’s iOS 6 has more apps built specifically for the iPad and Google’s OS does not have as much apps built for its tablets. But Google’s plus point is its very effective Google Map app which iOS does not have and its mapping software developed to replace Google Map has flopped.

Weight & Thickness

The Nexus 10 weighs 603 grams and 8.9mm thick. On the contrary, the iPad weighs 652 grams and 9.4mm thick.

Camera

Both devices are equipped with 5-megapixel rear cameras, but the Nexus 10’s 1.9-megapixel front camera might be better than the iPad’s 1.2-megapixel camera.

Battery

Apple’s iPad has longer battery life of 10 hours of  continuous use compared to  Nexus 10’s nine hours, as claimed by Google. I have personally tested iPad’s battery life as I have been using it for quite sometime and sometimes it is more than 10 hours depending upon the contents.

Connectivity

The Nexus 10 is available only in Wi-Fi option whereas iPad also provides cellular connectivity.

Price

For iPad prices start at $499 for 16GB, $ 599 for 32GB and $699 for 64GB or $629 for 16GB plus 4G cellular connectivity. The Nexus 10 price starts at $399 for 16GB, and  $349 for the 32GB model.

The Nexus 10 is cheaper, lighter and offers a higher resolution than the latest iPad. But the Nexus 10 has still to be used and feature wise, it appears it can give a good punch to latest iPad and definitely the war between Android versus iOS will escalate in the weeks to come.
