To set the rumors mills in silent mode for the time being, Google and LG has announced the much-awaited Google Nexus 5 smartphone in 16 and 32 GB variants. This smartphone is the first device, which will run Goolge’s recently announced Kitkat 4.4 OS.
The hardware features of Google Nexus 5 smartphone are the same, which were leakd by many tipsters. This smartphone sports a 5-inch (actual 4.95-inch) Full HD IPS display (1920 x 1080 pixels), and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 with 2.26GHz Quad-Core Krait CPU. The Nexus 5 has 2GB of RAM and comes in 16GB and 32GB internal memory options. This smartphone is equipped with 8MP rear camera. According to LG, this camera incorporates LG Innotek’s acclaimed optical image stabilizer technology which was first introduced in the flagship LG G2. This camera has capabilites of shooting in dim light. Nexus 5 also includes Photo Sphere making it easy to capture a series of photos and turn them into a seamless 360-degree experience. This smartphone also houses 1.3MP HD front camera. The Google Nexus 5 is packed with 2,300mAh Li-Polymer battery.
“LG is proud to partner with Google again to develop the fastest, most powerful Nexus phone ever,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “Nexus 5 offers the ultimate functionality in a modern design and is a testament to the level of innovation that can be generated when two great companies come together for a second act.”
The Google Nexus 5, comes with the new dialer, which is one of the features of new Kitkat 4.4 OS. The new dialer automatically suggests people the most likely call while Caller ID by Google matches an incoming phone number to a business even if that number isn’t stored in the contact list. Users can send and receive text messages directly from Hangouts, and Hangouts for Android now supports location sharing.
“We’re excited to collaborate with LG on a new Nexus device,” said Sundar Pichai, senior vice president of Android, Chrome and Apps at Google. “Google Nexus 5 is the slimmest and fastest Nexus phone to date and puts the latest platform innovations of Android 4.4, KitKat, right in the hands of consumers.
The Google Nexus 5 would be available in black and white colors. The most important news is that it is coming to India very soon and is listed on Google Play India store at an attractive price of Rs. 28,999 for the 16GB and Rs. 32,999 for the 32GB variant.
The price tag announced by Google for India, makes it very interesting proposition to buy a 5 inch device with stock Android and manufactured by LG. This device is younger brother of LG G2, and will pose serious problems to mighty smartphones in 5 inch display categories, manufactured by leading companies especially to few Chinese companies, who are scaling-up their operations in India by launching one device after another. If you are planning to buy 5 inch Android smartphone and have budjget of Rs. 29K, then wait for few more days and as per our estimate, it will start selling in India by mid or late November. It is worth waiting!
