Google’s scheduled event in New York for 29th October has been cancelled for the time being. On this occasion, Google was speculated to announce 32 GB Google Nexus 7 tablet, Nexus 4 smartphone in partnership with LG, Nexus 10 tablet and enhanced version of Android 4.2, rumored to be named Key Lime Pie.
Google has postponed the much-talked about Android event due to Hurricane Sandy. According to The Verge, “On Friday, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo declared a state of emergency in response to the incoming storm, and Google’s event was set to take place on a waterfront pier, which is now in an evacuation zone.”
Google has sent short e-mail to the invited media informing that “we are cancelling our Monday morning event in New York due to Hurricane Sandy. We will let you know our plans as soon as we know more.” It is not made clear when and where the event will take place now.
It is expected that the postponed event will take place very shortly as Google is anxious to release its new products at the earliest to catch-up with the forthcoming holiday season sale and take head on with competitive devices like mini iPad,Surface tablet by Microsoft and to some extent with forthcoming Windows 8 smartphones by Samsung,HTC and Nokia.
The following products are widely anticipated to make their debut in Android event:
32-GB Nexus 7 tablet : Google is increasing the storage capacity of its existing Nexus 7 capacity to 32GB and this enhanced version is expected to be priced around $249.
Nexus 10 tablet : The Nexus 10 tablet’s screen is expected to have a 2,560-by-1,600-pixel resolution with a density of 299 pixels per inch. This tablet will feature a 1.7-GHz Samsung Exynos dual-core Cortex-A15 processor and include both a front-facing camera and a 5-megapixel rear camera. This tablet may have dual speakers and equipped with near-field communication technology and have 16 GB of storage. It is widely speculated that the tablet’s price will start between $379 and $429.
Nexus 4 smartphone : This smartphone will be made by LG on the design of Optimus G and will feature 4.7-inch screen with a 1,280 by 768 pixel resolution and include an 8-megapixel camera. It will be powered by a 1.5-GHz Qualcomm quad-core S4 processor.
Android 4.2 : This new operating system may be called Key Lime Pie and expected to run Nexus 4 smartphone and Nexus 10 tablet.
