It has become a fad with Google to pick flagship devices of phone makers and sell them with its Pure Android version, without customization by the respective manufacturers. Earlier Google had announced Nexus version or stock Android Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One, which will go on sale in US from 26th June. Now they have set their eyes on dust and water proofed Sony Xperia Z smartphone, which is making good impression in all the markets and selling like hotcakes. As per report of AndroidGeeks, Google intends to offer Sony Xperia Z with stock Android on Google Play store shortly.
According to the report, the exact date of launch of Sony Xperia Z Nexus version is still not known, but it is expected that this may become reality sometimes in the month of July. Sony Xperia Z with pure Android to be sold by Google will exclude Sony’s software customisations, but will have identical hardware specifications. This will come pre-loaded with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS, and will probably be priced at $599.
Sony Xperia Z sports 5-inch full-HD (1080×1920) display and is powered by a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor. It is equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera, 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, Wi-Fi, and the phone runs Android Jelly Bean.
Google has already confirmed that it will sell a Galaxy S4 with 16 gigabytes of internal memory for $649 in the US, and the HTC One Nexus version will be avaialble for $599.
This is the innovative strategy adopted by Google to select fast selling flagship devices and sell them with stock Android to increase its market share and this confidence has emerged from Google’s success with Nexus range of smartphones.
